Podcast to Grow Your Business

by | Oct 12, 2018 | Business Tips, Podcasting

I like to talk a lot about how important video is and how you should be getting in front of your audience. But it has occurred to me that there are folks who may not want to get in front of the camera. I know, shocking, right?! Who wouldn’t want to ham it up in front of a camera? Not me, not at all. But some people might not want to do that, so there has to be other ways for you to connect with your audience and have them feel like they can talk to you. Let’s talk about podcasts!

Most of my friends are businesses owners as well, and they all listen to podcasts. Everybody has their favorite and I’ll talk about the best podcasts for your business later. But today let’s focus on how to get you started with a podcast.

It’s easy to get started. There’s a free app called Anchor that will help you create, share, and host your podcast. It allows you to set up your own channel and have more than one person on the podcast (so you can interview someone), it does it all in one app. I wanted to see how hard it was so I tested Anchor out and got my channel set up and my first podcast set up in about four minutes. Super simple and fast. There’s an app for your phone or you can do it from your computer.

I know at some point in your career you’ve made an awesome phone call. If you can make a phone call, you can make a podcast. The way that Anchor is set up, once you have your channel set up and name your podcast, you can talk for an hour or for two minutes. When you’re done, Anchor will host it for you and allow you to share it. There’s an automatic feed that includes Google, Facebook, and Twitter. It’s a great way to share with your audience and not share your face, especially if you’re shy or don’t have a place for video or don’t know how to set up lighting.

Podcasts are awesome and lots of businesses only do podcasts. It’s not out of the realm of possibility for you to cultivate your own following. You don’t have to have professional equipment to get started, and Anchor is simple to set up and easy to use. Get it done, and grow your business!
