This month on the blog we are going to be talking all things holidays. We are starting today with what you need to do to get ready for the holidays. They will be here before you know it so let’s go ahead and get started.
Prepare for Black Friday
Black Friday is right around the corner. You have to get ready if you haven’t already. The same goes for Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. If you’re a non-profit, you need to have registered as one on platforms like Facebook to be eligible for Giving Tuesday donations. Don’t hesitate. Now is the time to be ready.
Identify Your Target Market
The best way to get ready for the holidays is to figure out who you’re talking to. Who are you targeting? A great way to do this is to look at your insights. Facebook is good for this. Instagram has great insights as well. Some of the things you want to look at are age, gender, location, Facebook use, relationship status, and buying history.
Decide on an Objective
Make sure you have a measurable objective. It could be generating sales, growing your email list, raising brand awareness, or generating leads. Having a clear objective will help you develop a successful strategy. For instance, if you sell a service instead of a product, your Black Friday special might be a specific download so you can collect email addresses for future marketing purposes. If you sell cookbooks, your Black Friday special may be a free apron with the purchase of a cookbook. Those are very different. You want to make sure you are devising your strategy based on what you want to accomplish.
Optimize Your Page
Make sure your social media presence is ready for the traffic you’re going to get. Make sure your contact information is there and up to date. Test your Contact Me button. Ensure that you are easy to get ahold of. It matters. When you’re running a huge sale, you’ve got ads turned on, and your contact information is wrong, it’s not going to help you one bit.
Do You Need Ads?
Maybe, maybe not. It depends. If you do want ads, do you want to boost or do you want a regular ad?
Boosting works for a specific event or function. If you’re having a Black Friday sale, boosting could totally work for that. However, with boosting you miss out on the more focused targeting of regular ads. With boosted posts, you can target either by geographic location or gender and age. With a regular ad, you can target several variables together.
Many times with boosting you’re really just paying for likes. Don’t get so bogged down in the vanity metrics that you miss out on the benefits that could come from other options. Realize exactly what you’re paying for.
Check Your Stats
You have to know what’s working and the only way to do that is to check your stats. What happened on your last boosted post? Did you get 100 likes but no one followed your page? Did you get 100 new emails and no sales? Find out what is happening when you do this stuff. If you don’t know the history, you won’t be able to predict future behavior.
The Holidays are Here
This can be a great time of year for your business. Get ready for all the amazing opportunities that are coming your way this season!
