Women-Owned Brands That Are Thriving: Female-Led Businesses That We Love

by | Mar 7, 2025 | Uncategorized

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re shining a light on incredible women-owned businesses right here in Birmingham, Alabama. This month is dedicated to celebrating women who have shaped history, are leading the charge today, and mentoring the next generation. We’ll also tackle the ever-present imposter syndrome and explore ways to build lasting confidence. But today, let’s celebrate the local talent that makes Birmingham so special. We’ve broken down our spotlight into categories: retail, service, food, and a standout nonprofit!

Retail Revelations:

First up, retail! I have to mention my absolute favorite, Alabama Goods. Owned by two incredible women, they’ve been showcasing the best of Alabama-made products for over a decade. With locations in Homewood, Hoover, and Huntsville, they’re a treasure trove of unique gifts and pottery. What’s truly special is their commitment to supporting local artisans – everything they sell is made right here in Alabama.

For those looking to protect their natural hair while rocking a hat, H&H Headwear offers stylish, satin-lined caps. They even have a special line of feminist headwear for Women’s History Month. And don’t forget Cahaba Soap and Candle Company LLC. I gifted their magnesium cream to my team for Christmas, and it was a huge hit! All their products are natural, from soy-based candles with wood wicks to their soothing creams.

Service Superstars:

Moving on to services, let’s start with Tara Vice, an event planner extraordinaire who owns Any Reason to Plan LLC. Whether it’s a wedding or a themed setup for a corporate event, her work is simply stunning. We’ve hired her repeatedly for conferences, and her attention to detail is unmatched. She even offers personalized delivery setups for birthdays and other celebrations!

Genny Williams, a seasoned realtor, is another gem. Her extensive experience, coupled with her husband’s background in construction, gives her unique insights. But what truly sets her apart is her willingness to share her knowledge. She’s a mentor to many, including some of my favorite realtors.

For large-scale events, Jennifer Gowers of GoPro Event Solutions is your go-to. With years of experience and a stunning venue at Bridge Street Galleries, she can handle everything from corporate gatherings to weddings. Her team ensures every detail is perfect, from audio-visual setup to seamless event flow.

Workshop, owned by Katherine Thrower, is a versatile space perfect for smaller corporate events, training sessions, and meetings. It’s beautifully designed and equipped with everything you need. And Katherine even offers classes for entrepreneurs.

Finally, HUM Concierge, owned by a dynamic woman, caters to busy professionals, helping them with everything from home organization to process structuring. She’s expanding her services, so keep an eye out for her announcements!

Foodie Favorites:

Now, let’s talk about food! Ashley Mac’s Kitchen is a local favorite, known for their unique and delicious chicken salad. Caveat Coffee in Homewood offers a lovely atmosphere and exceptional coffee. Cookie Fix is a must-try for cookie lovers, with locations across the state. K&J’s Elegant Pastries creates stunning wedding cakes, gourmet cupcakes, and those incredible monster milkshakes you’ve seen online. MELT is a cheese lover’s paradise, and Urban Cookhouse offers a variety of fresh, delicious options, from soups and sandwiches to hot plated meals.

Nonprofit Spotlight: Momentum Leaders

We will conclude by highlighting Momentum Leaders, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in business. Their year-long executive program is transformative, and they offer a wealth of resources, including free training and a mentor program.

And of course, Social U. We’ve been helping businesses with their social media needs for 16 years!

Happy Women’s History Month! Let’s be sure to always celebrate and support the incredible women-owned businesses in our community.
