New Year, New Tools: Tools to Get & Stay on Track

by | Jan 31, 2023 | Tool and Apps

Everyone knows if you have the right tools for the job, the mission is accomplished much more easily. Our team compiled a list of all their favorite tools to use as social media managers. These tools all have different purposes and make our lives easier. If you are looking for apps and websites to help you master social media, this is the read for you.

Content Calendar

We recently talked about content calendars in a blog and on our weekly like called “What’s up Wednesday.” Content calendars are a lifesaver for getting organized and prepared each month. We have a free content calendar download that will be released soon. Keep an eye out!

Asana

Asana lets you set reminders and manage projects. An entire team can work together on a project. We use it to plan content for our clients and ourselves. You can put graphics, captions, and comments on an asana board. We use it for multiple different organizational purposes, but we use it for content planning the most. There is a free version that we use, but you can pay 9.99 per month to add a larger team.

Trello

Trello is a project management tool similar to asana. We use Trello for internal communications at Social U. Trello is how we communicate information between team members. It is where we store client and employee information and passwords. It is simple to use and a great way to keep track of each team member and client. We only use the free version of Trello.

Google Drive

We use google drive to keep track of blogs, papers, and pictures. We also keep backups of all documents in Google Drive so that we can’t lose important information. Each of our clients has its folder where we store their blogs, intake forms, photos, and other information. It is an easy point of reference if we need to know what blogs we have already done. It is free Google software, but you can end up paying for cloud storage.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar is a great way to keep track of your team’s schedules. You can put your meetings, vacations, and other events on a Google Calendar. Once it is in the program your team can keep track of each other with ease.

Calendly

Calendly is a free app that helps you manage your schedule with clients. You can send people a link with your availability and they pick the time that works best. They sign up with the information you ask for. The link connects with your calendar and shows you what is scheduled.

To-do List

If you need a place to keep a to-do list, this is the app for you. It can help you stay focused and on task. You can access this app anytime for free.

Toggl

Toggl is another tool that we use regularly. It is free, but you can pay $10 each month for an upgraded version. It is an organizational app to track and manage how you spend your time. Toggl automatically generates a pie chart so you can see how much time each task is taking. If you are spending too much time on a task you can reevaluate.

Scheduling Tools

If you are managing a social media site, it is best to schedule posts ahead of time. It is best to schedule Facebook and Instagram through Meta Business Suite. LinkedIn and Twitter scheduling is easiest on Hootsuite. It is free up to three platforms. There is no tool to schedule TikToks yet, but we predict that it will happen by the end of the year. Pinterest is scheduled through Tailwind, and it is completely free!

(Not so) New Year

Although it is no longer a new year, it is important to get and stay on track all year long. Take the time to try out these tools and your life will be easier. We have a fun month of Valentine’s Day themed posts in February, so don’t forget to come and tune in next week!
