Monitor and Maintain Your Brand

by | Sep 4, 2022 | Branding, Business Tips

Recently, we have covered different topics that relate to business such as SEO and networking. This week we will explain how you can take control of your brand’s reputation. As a business owner, you need to know what people are saying about you and your brand.

Personal vs. Business

Your brand needs to be maintained along with your business. LinkedIn is the best way to maintain your brand as a business owner. People look for LinkedIn accounts first when it comes to business affairs. You must ensure that your LinkedIn profile is filled out and up to date. You have control over what is seen on your account.

Google Alerts

Google Alerts are alerts you can set up that are linked to your email. When a certain phrase you have chosen is posted online, you will get an email notification. The name of your company and your name should be a google alert. If your company’s name is unique it will be easy to monitor your brand. The downside of this Google function is receiving unnecessary notifications because of a common business name.

Talkwalker

Talkwalker is free to use and it will help you monitor your brand. It is a way to stay on top of your brand by following every mention of your company. You can use it to monitor any kind of online activity including the web and social media. It is more filtered and customizable than Google Alerts.

Social Media Mentions

Any social media platform, specifically Facebook, is important for keeping up with your brand. Any time you are tagged or mentioned in anything you should look to see why. Look for posts, blogs, and comments that mention your name. Spam is common, and you will most likely get tagged for the wrong reason. You do not want your brand associated with an untrue or inappropriate message. It happens, but you have the power to control your mentions.

Hootsuite

Hootsuite has a dashboard that will feed you mentions from your platforms. You can use Hootsuite for free if you only set up three platforms. If you know you will check Facebook mentions every day, set Hootsuite up for platforms that you check less often. This gives you the power to know what is being said about your brand.

Facebook Search Bar

The search bar on Facebook is robust. It lets you search for pages, photos, videos, etc. It is a great way to monitor what is being said about you. If someone has made a fake account that portrays your brand poorly, you might never know about it. Searching on Facebook can prevent this from becoming a problem.

Hashtags

Search hashtags that relate to your brand on Instagram and Twitter. These platforms are heavy in hashtag use. If someone is speaking poorly about you they might tag you, but they might use a hashtag that relates to your brand. You can do damage control if you find them.

Mention

Mention is a free resource that allows you to connect with brand advocates and begin reputation management. You can start influencer marketing easily through this tool. It helps you identify powerful voices in your industry so that you can use them to make a positive impact on your brand. They also have brand analysis tools that help you separate positive and negative comments on your social media platforms. It is normal to want to see negative comments before positive ones so that you can do damage control.
