We are continuing the theme of things we love because love is in the air in February. This week we will highlight local businesses that our team loves. Most of the businesses included are female-owned, and all are local.
One thing our Social U team has a strong love for is food, and there are many great locally owned options for food. We have six great food options that we would like to highlight.
First, we love Ashley Mac’s. If you haven’t been to Ashley Mac’s, you are missing out. It is a local female-owned business that has an incredible start-up story. When our team of social media experts meet, they want to go to Ashley Mac’s and Cookie Fix.
Speaking of Cookie Fix, it is another wonderful food option in Birmingham, Alabama. It is one of our favorite places to go as a team. Even our team members that live in Ohio and Texas love to visit Cookie Fix on their trips to Alabama.
If you love dessert as much as we do, another great option is Bluff Park Ice Cream Shoppe. They have every flavor of ice cream you could ever need ranging from orange sherbert to bourbon pecan pie. We recommend that you let Bluff Park Ice Cream Shoppe help you tame your sweet tooth.
Popcorn is a classic snack, but Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn turned it into an entire business. They have many different flavors of popcorn that are perfect to put in a gift basket or snack for yourself. Not only do we think that they have an incredible business, but other people do too. The business owner was voted local business owner of the year in Birmingham.
If you’re feeling tired and need a quick caffeinated pick me up, Wild Rose Cafe and Tea and Thyme are here to help. If you are a coffee person, you should make a trip to Wild Rose Cafe. They have tasty beverages and the perfect atmosphere in their cafe. Maybe you don’t like coffee, but you do like tea. Tea and Thyme is the perfect spot for you. If you’re interested in trying blueberry, sugar cookie, or plain black tea they have your back.
Another thing we love to do is shop. If you love shopping as much as we do, you should check out these three local businesses.
Alabama Goods is one of our favorite places to shop. All of their products are made in Alabama and they have a wide variety of items to shop for. You can shop for food and pottery in the same place when you visit Alabama Goods. They offer items that are perfect as presents and will even create a beautiful gift basket. You can buy their items in-store or even have them shipped across the country.
An additional female-owned local shopping spot is Dirty Hippie. At Dirty Hippie, you can find some really unique yet stylish pieces to add to your wardrobe. They have mostly clothing, but you can also find jewelry in the store.
Sojourns Fair Trade is a retail shop that promotes a safe and fair workplace. Their 400 artisans are 60% women, and many of these women have been liberated or protected from sex trafficking. They have a wide variety of products so that everyone can find something they love in the store.
At social U we love to take advantage of all the great services located in our area whenever possible. Today, we will be sharing local services that could make your life easier and help you grow your business.
The first service we will highlight today is our incredible webmaster. Page One Promotions is a service we love and use extremely often. We recommend that our clients allow Page One Promotions to host their website. They use local servers, respond quickly, and edits are included in their hosting services.
Another service you should check out is Miss Annie’s home + kitchen. She does recipe demonstrations on Facebook and even has her first cookbook out. She is very relatable and her recipes are simple and easy to follow.
Next, we love Any Reason To Plan. Any Reason to Plan is a local event planning service that is extremely talented and fun to work with. They are the perfect people to plan your wedding or event.
Prophouse Designs is another fantastic service offered in Birmingham, Alabama. They can provide any furniture or decorations you could ever want or need. Although their warehouse is not open for public consumption, you can schedule a time to visit with them.
The fifth service we love at Social U is perfect for your large-scale event planning needs. GoPro Event Solutions can help you plan and execute your event with success. They take care of everything for your event including set-up, getting people in and out, and getting sponsors. We highly recommend you check them out.
Lastly, Get A Real Estate Life has great service for realtors. They can help you advance and grow your business to the level you want it to be. She has a huge fan club for her business because she is great at what she does.
We have too many great nonprofits in our area to leave them out, so we would also like to highlight three non-profit organizations we love at Social U.
Starting off strong, we love Workshop Empowerment Ink because of the incredible work that they do. They have been around for over 120 years and work to provide jobs for people with disabilities. They even have a second division called We Made that sells homemade products made by people with disabilities. The money spent on products at We Made goes directly back into the program to help more disabled individuals.
The second community service we love is Momentum. Our whole team loves momentum and the unique connections it helps women make. It is a leadership development program for executive women and women in their early careers. They have multiple programs to strengthen women and allow them to make important connections.
Last but not least, Lakeshore Foundation is a wonderful nonprofit that we love. They promote independence for people with physical or other disabilities.
We hope that you enjoyed hearing about all of the local businesses we love at Social U. When you get the chance, you should check out some of these businesses because you might just love them as much as we do.
